Re: First car/trucks!

I have no pictures of my first car. 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix built to the hilt. What were my parents thinking with that purchase? My dad was too scared to test drive it, yet they bought it for me. 390bhp and 7mpg, way too much car for a punk kid with an ego, but it was the fastest car in town and everyone (including the cops) knew it.

As soon as I went to boot camp in 1991, they sold it for $500 and were happy to be rid of the Exxon Valdez (as my dad called it) since it left a mark when parked.

Re: First car/trucks!

heeeeere's Bessy! I miss her very much... Bought it with paper route money when I was 15 (didn't look like this at that point though, it barely ran actually). 57 bel air with a 68 327 (.030 over, pj gear drive, edelbrock tr1y, holley 600s. Looked great, ran like a skeered rabbit, guzzled gas more than any other vehicle I've ever owned. AWESOME!) I'm a little less "chromey" now, but hot rodder at heart I guess. I'm gonna go cry now.

Re: First car/trucks!

Here she is. same as my build thread. 2nd of 3 boys to learn to drive and have this as a driver until something better came along. My next car after this one was a 1966 Chevelle station wagon....man I wish I still had that one too !

I was lucky enough to lay claim on the 60 Burb 14 years ago.

Re: First car/trucks!

My first car was a 74 Dodge Dart Swinger with a 225 slant 6, but I never ended up driving it. Here's the first vehicle I insured and registered, 66 GMC 910 with a 283 and a 3 on the tree. Drove this one year round as a daily driver for a few years.

Re: First car/trucks!

Not a car like most of you had, but a bad ass one none the less I think.

1982 Datsun 280zx turbo
2 seater, auto, t tops

My uncle gave it to me because it crapped out on him and was left parked at his old apartment complex in Dallas and they told him he had to get rid of it or they were towing it. My dad and I and our neighbor (also our mechanic) went with a trailer to pick it up. My uncle tried to start it and nothing, the mechanic fiddled with it for about a minute (still don't know what he did to it) amd started it up amd drove it on the trailer. Car was in pretty damn good condition for 20 years old just a few cracks in the leather and clear coat peeling in a few places. Sold it and bought a 1986 chevy pickup, missed the sports car so sold the truck and bought a 1992 camaro, wrecked the camaro and have just owned trucks since. Mark my words I will own a chevelle one day though.

Re: First car/trucks!

My first car was a 78 Celica GT. My dad paid $45 for it when he was a tow truck driver. We got it running and slapped on a T3/T4 turbo and had the carb rebuilt and rejetted. It was stolen 3 weeks later.

Re: First car/trucks!

Mine was a 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass "S", I loved that car, it was the only car in my circle of friends that actually had working AC, so I got to carry all the girls around. worked for me. it was a 2 door coupe, with buckets, rocket 350 and a PG. I traded it to my sister since she had a newer POS that would trade for more and my car was in great shape when I bought a new truck. then the !@#$ traded it without me knowing.
