How to orient column shifter linkage?

I have a column shifter which has the arm on the bottom of the column for the shifter linkage. Right now in Park, the shifter arm is at 12 o'clock. Facing the cab from the front of the truck, the arm moves counter clockwise and probably stops around 8 o'clock in Low. Is this ideal?

Re: How to orient column shifter linkage?

Looking at mine from the front bumper to the cab it is at about 1:00 and moves to about 4 or 5 CCW.
There are kits available that I think you can make it work, Lokar comes to mind

Re: How to orient column shifter linkage?

I was looking at this the otherday online.
the solution I liked best was to connect a simple rod on that arm, and have it connect to an arm facing forward. you make connected to the shift shaft on the transmission.

when you pull "up" on the column arm, it pulls the transmission into park... make sense?

I used a Lokar setup w/ the flexible cable connecting to a 700r4.

Re: How to orient column shifter linkage?

Thanks Redux. That's the kit I intend to buy. So in the pic, the shifter is in park right? Looks like I need the arm pointed at 3 o'clock to start. Thanks.
