Bed jacks into cab while off-roading
I gota think this must happen to most trucks of this type (72 short step-side bed 4x4). Since brand new, my truck bed bolts have mashed into the cab every time the frame torques while off-road. I'm ready to do some serious body & paint work now and wouldn't like to start the mashing all over again with new paint. Anybody found a good work-around for this problem?
Thanks |

Box the frame, add more bracing to the frame or build a roll cage to tie it all together. Boxing the frame will help, but wont stop the flex completely. Same for adding more cross members. A well built cage would put an end to it.

Re: Bed jacks into cab while off-roading
Some of it is probably coming from the rubber mounts under the cab too. The bed is "fairly" solidly mounted, but that cab can move around quite a bit. New rubber isolators would stiffen it up some, urethane is even more solid, but some guys say that the on-road ride is harsher than they like.

Button head cap screws will give you a little more room. They are low and mushroom shaped, so they dont hit as easily. I also slid my bed as far as it would go in the bolt holes.
