Removing the Light Switch

I need to remove my light switch. Can someone tell me how to get the switch to let go of the knob and shaft ?

There is a small button on the right side of the switch, push it in and pull the knob and shaft out.

Is it the spring loaded one? I have been trying that, but may have to get more aggressive.

The OEM switch works pretty smoothly but if you have a repop like mine its like a combination lock. If you don't hit the button just right the shaft ain't coming out.
