workin on all but my 68

been busy with anything but my 68, the first one is a 2000 Mercedes C280 that was my brother's. He rearended a SUV at a traffic light, and told me to take it or it was going to salvage. i spent 1200 to fix it (insurance quoted 6600) and sold it for 7000, not a bad profit. the second one is my son's 2004 Mazda6 that got hit broadside by a red-light runner, insurance quoted 7200 (book value - 6900) it's almost finished. Re: workin on all but my 68

i call it Franken-Mazda now, he got it on 12/24/10 and it got crashed on 4/26/11. it's been a rough summer for him without a ride, so he's happy now. so here's the process.

The day it was purchased:

Re: workin on all but my 68

And finished on August 19th, just in time for the beginning of his Senior year in High School..........i have been a loyal PPG customer for 35 years, but after the last 3 jobs i am sold on Nason. A lot less expensive, great results, and very easy to work with.

Re: workin on all but my 68

On a side note, this was about a 25 mph impact. the only injuries my son incurred were from the seat air bag (scratch on arm), and the air curtain that drops down about a foot from the A pillar to the C pillar (small bruise on forehead). We were lucky.

Re: workin on all but my 68

thanks for the comments, i have learned a lot lately about blending panels to match. the mazda came out the best as far as blending. had probs. with the Benz cuz the flakes were bigger than factory, but no one noticed unless i mentioned it to them. the guy that bought it could not see the difference, and i tried to show him. he loves the car and says he got the best deal ever on a used car. we'll see after he has to buy replacement parts for it.

Re: workin on all but my 68

no, just can't bring myself to sign up for 45K plus, and i'm about to have 2 in college. i do have another plan though, i've been driving a truck for a daily ride since 92 and before that i always had a sports car for a daily. i think i'm gonna build a classic sports car with a late model powertrain for a daily. think 70-73 firebird/Trans Am with a 6.0/6 spd, i'm looking hard for a builder. i had one for 20 yrs and foolishly sold it for a ride that would haul kids.....sigh. i have lots of parts still from when i owned my 71. if i get too desperate i still break out the GTO, but it draws too much attention whenever i stop.
