Big tires and lifts

I am trying to find information on the origin of bigger tires and lift kits. Adds with dates, foctory literature. In BC we can get a reduced rate on insurance with collector plates, but the vehickle has to be stock and or erra correct. So far The biggest tires I can document are 10.50 16.5. I have no information on suspension hight. I want to get as close as I can to 4" lift and 35's on ralley's.

You could go to the spring shop and have springs made to whatever specs you wanted ever since there's been springs used in trucks. Why does it have to be store bought? The store bought springs came along after so many one-off jobs were out there. 4wd in itself was a modification and at first was an aftermarket conversion which made the truck site higher than stock and larger diameter tires were used. I first started seeing lift kits a few years after these trucks came out,like mid-70s. Dick Cepek's son Tom ran a set of huge tires on his F250 and I think they were either turf tires or some larger truck extra tractions. 4wds have always been outfitted to whatever their use was,especially when they were primarily used for utility purposes. Look at fertilizer trucks with 40 some inch tires and custom wheels. Trucks aren't cars. They were built in a few configurations and upfitters took it from there according to the truck's intended use. GM never made a garbage truck or an ambulance,either.

I agree with pumpkin. I don't think you'll find any factory literature that describes lifts or oversize tires.

I just need some way to document lifts and bigger tires to please my insurance company. Without some sort of proof, I can't put the lift and bigger tires, and get the cheep insurance.

Look up Hickey Enterprises and find old literature on their products. There is bound to be ads for lift kits or tires in them. Trevor

Era correct? That doesn't mean the same year. I consider a '72 from the '70s era. I know I bought a set of 14.50/37 Armstrong Tru-Tracs from the first batch through Dick Cepek in '77. Gumbo Mudders and Ground Hawgs were already out in '36s for a couple years,at least. Denman was making uni-directional 9.00-16,Co-op had Grip Spurs,and Goodyear made Extra Tractions in that size,too from way back before these trucks came out. Those are about 35"
