Found for free.....
Farmer gave this to me a while ago, just got her home. I guess this is what you would call a C40 (940 here in Canada)...... 5 bolt front and 10 out back. Cab is shot, but I got a rust free CST cab and front clip...... now I just need a Holmes500........

Love the brown. I've always wanted to paint one 1969 GM Burnished Brown. Everything is red, black, or blue it seems nowadays. Even my truck has a color I'm sure to see more than one of at any big car show.

Tow hooks are gone..... gotta go back and ask the farmer what he stole them for. They have to be in a machine shed or bolted to somthing else.

Re: Found for free.....
That's great truck! '69,right? I've seen very few like this. It has some great options. Is the brake booster down on the frame? Is there a breather coming up through the floor next to the driver seat? What body did it have on it? Special paint makes it all the more interesting. The ones down here were badged as 30s and 3500. It's a heavier axle option. I have a cab from a Chevy like that.

Re: Found for free.....
I was waiting for SpecialK..... Thanx. Its badged as a 930, but I've heard them called "40 series" with the special order axel. Brake booster is under the floor, vent beside the seat. I will post pics of that. I hope a CST/10 cab will fit, I think I'd just have to cut out the low hump and add the vent. It had an aluminum van box converted to livestock carrier, essentially a shiny cube van. Farmer wanted to keep the box though. 292 is gone, mid seventies 350. Gonna do a project thread....... very low buck parts truck hauler/wrecker/ramp truck, whatever I can get my hands on.

Re: Found for free.....
That paint was one of those Canadian-only colors and listed as Special Paint. The C/10 cab will work like you said. My cab was from what must have been a nice truck. Not a CST but a Custom. It had A/C and the bright trim at the windows (and Custom badge on glovebox door). It has one '69-style clearance lamp lens and the rest are 70-91s. I'd have to check the SPID to see if it was a 69 or 70. That's going to be a cool truck. I always loved those 8-hole wheels. They were also made in the 8-lug pattern. Sure would be cool on my tow truck.

Re: Found for free.....
Looks darker than the one I've seen on pickups. It looks like it might be this green used my Nationwide Truck Rental. At least I think that was the name. Notice the funny 2-hole wheels:

Re: Found for free.....
I believe that is still a 30. Any 40's I've seen are identical to a 50 in appearance. I'd say that was a 30 with the 11000 lb rear end option. When I go parts shopping I find the "except with 11000 rear axle" statement on a lot. That should be about a 14000 gvw truck. I've seen them with helper coils over the spring pack. Check your frame around the overload pads as they like to crack around the rivets. Also check over the rad support. Every 30 I've seen has a cracked rad support. I've never seen a cracked rad support on on a half ton though.
