Instrument cluster build
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has built a custom instrument cluster. I'm not in a hurry to pay 800 or so for the comolete cluster for my 68 but noticed the cluster panel itself is only 100. My panel is void of a tach but I want to keep it as clean a look as possible. I was wondering ho hard it would be, or is it possible to mount individual guages to this blank panel?

Re: Instrument cluster build
I don't post on here much, but do read a lot of post. About a year or so ago I remember seeing a thread where someone built a panel using a glove box door out of a 67-72 truck. Sorry I wouldn't have a clue how to find the link. Looked really sharp and clean though.

Re: Instrument cluster build
If you do a search for gauge cluster threads, you will find several people that have built "custom" clusters using the factory (or reproduction) clusters and aftermarket gauges such as Autometer. In my opinion these are the best looking ones, unless you are going for the all billet look. Typically, the ones I have seen have all seven gauges, but you could definitely go with three. The biggest issue will be finding the right size gauge for the center position above the steering column. It needs to be 3-3/8" to fit without further modification.
