Re: need advice on lowering

Lowering blocks dont work on the leaf springs unless you do a flip kit which is farther than H/B Deluxe wants to drop. You can use lowering shackles from a 73-87 or Western Chassis makes them for our trucks.....I just saw this question asked in the suspension section and the Western info is from there.

Its a great way to do it slepysal, I think it ends up being about 5 or 6 inches after its all flipped and done.

Re: need advice on lowering

Extending the shackle would be the cheapest...especially if you cut and weld yourself (or just buy longer ones)

Keep in mind you get 1" of drop per 2" of extention.

Also, you could also remove one of two of the leafs in combination with the shackle stretch.

My pick-up is leaf with flip kit. Not sure if any leafs are removed....dont know the total drop. Roughly 5'' I would guess.

Re: need advice on lowering

Just disassemble your springs, put your axle on top. I used Moroso perches from Summit for a 3'' diameter axle tube. You can get the perches anywhere. My frame has been re-done so I dont remember the exact stock fit of all the parts. You may want to add a notch kit. My axle is roughly 1.5'' from where the frame used to be.

Re: need advice on lowering

i have a 64 gmc i removed all of the short leaves, just left the 3 long ones. also bought shackles from ece. lowered truck about 3 1/2 in. still not low enough but will due for now. rides fine i don't haul anything more than chairs and icechest so i don't care about load capasity.

Hey guy's, what year did these trucks come with leaf springs. My old 62 had coils, and my new 66 fleet side also has coil's. I'm looking too lower my 4'' overall 2'' spindle 2'' spring 4'' rear, does anyone have pic's of a truck lowered 4'' overall.

•1960 - 1962 1/2- and 3/4-ton Chevrolet & GMC - torsion bar front end, coil springs in rear.
The 1-ton and bigger trucks, had torsion bar front end, leaf springs in rear.

•1963 - 1966 Chevrolet - coil springs front and rear 1/2- and 3/4-ton.
The 1-ton trucks had leaf springs rear, coil springs in front.

•1963 - 1966 GMC - leaf springs rear, coil springs in front, 1/2-, 3/4- and 1-ton

•Canadian Trucks, both GMC and Chevy are the same as US built Chevy.
