FEAR the Monkey!
I've had this little guy for ~ 15 years. It started like as a 1979 Honda Z50R 50CC auto clutch with a 3 speed box. The years and many "sobriety challenged" owners have not been kind to it....

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
My 15 year old broke the suspension and FUBAR'D his pitbike so the Hot Rod wheels started turnin in my head. The Monkey had been sitting in "storage" behind the house under a tarp for a couple years. The 50 had long since been replaced with a 70CC 4 speed manual, that was tired and had been seized and PB'd at least once. it ran, but smoked like a 2 stroke... Out with the old and in with the new....

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
So we yanked the 70CC and bolted in the 125, CDI ignition, larger carb etc. With the 12/37 gearing all this thing wants to do is wheelie, first and second are useless and you have to lean over the bars when starting out in third or she'll monkey flip your butt.... HMMM what to do what to do ?.?.?
An altitude adjustment is in order.....

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
The rear posed some issues, the larger 10" wheels would not physically fit the little rear swingarm, sooo... Ebay to the rescue. purchased an ol XR75 factory swinger that will give us a +4 setback, this will be plenty for the larger wheel combo. Just needed to make it fit....

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
OK so now we needed to address the rear suspension and mount the larger rim/ tire combo... She's starting to look like an old 70s cafe racer at this point. We went with the look and fabbed up some cafe style bars and tucked in a nice glass pack off the wrecked pit bike, this thing has taken on a persona of its own.

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
So we went through the entire bike, all brakes, bearings, cables, fluids, etc. everything is new or refurbed. We guinea pigged it with my brother in law as he is ~ 170#s this thing does every bit of 50 MPH according to GPS. Plenty of acceleration, sounds meaner than hell, and will still rip the holy crud out of the rear tire if you WANT it to. Not bad for a little Monkey bike...
We are gonna keep the patina'd banged up tank and replace the seat with a factory QA 50 seat as it looks more vintage. Any suggestions on where to go from here as far as looks, or the cafe theme? Videos coming soon

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
Awsome build. I'd find some cool fenders to mount up close to the wheels

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
I agree with JRE.Maybe some small diameter fenders for a trailer in the proper wheel size then bob them to fit.shoot them flat black or brown then do red over that and sand them enough to look like the tank.
Then add a removeable wheelie bar.lolAfter that you will need to post a timeslip.

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
This is my 73 CT-70 I pulled out the tired 70cc and put in a 110cc. The engine is larger so I had to leave off the skid plate crash bar that wraps around the engine. I also drilled a small hole in the frame so I could guide the carb cable up into the frame and out the wiring harness grommet. Some people off set the carb to the side. But I thought it would look cleaner this way. I licensed it with a collector vehicle plate so it is street legal. If you’re ever up in Longview with your bike sometime we could cruise the mean streets together. That would be epic.

Re: FEAR the Monkey!
Got the QA50 seat modified and mounted, makes a world of difference.... Next up will be fenders and a slightly wider front tire.....
