Yeah. That's just my instinct/opinion/thought. I can't help ya on the experience or tricks part. Im interested in seeing the finished product though.

Re: 67 Grille and headlight surronding Brushed Finish??
i'd try a light blast with nonagressive media and finish it by going over it with a grey scotchbrite pad and might try sealing with a satin clearcoat

Re: 67 Grille and headlight surronding Brushed Finish??
I take some steel wool and a drill and bit on the end stretch out the steel wool along the part I want to give the brush effect to then twist it around the drill bit, turn on the drill while placing it along the part and it will twist around the drill bit as it then gives me my brushed aluminum but have to do it a few times mostly to get a good look. can even just leave the steel wool on the bit and go along your part this way and it will give a good pattern this way too. dont hurt to try it a bit on a junk piece first

Check in with kyull67... he did this on his truck. (Basically bare metal pieces.)

Re: 67 Grille and headlight surronding Brushed Finish??
remove the clear-coat/anodizing with Easy Off oven cleaner then use a BROWN Scotch-Brite pad to achieve a true "brush" finish ... anything less than brown will only make it look dull and not brushed
