HEI Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 67 GMC with a inline 6. i was told that a HEI distributor would swap right in. and any tell me what to look for as a donor?

The 250 L6 I gave to my son had an Hei distributor I think was off of a '78.

Whats your budget for the HEI? They can be had for the IL 6 fairly cheap.. I know the one I bought for my 250 was one of the ebay ones with a red cap for like 65 bucks shipped. And Tom over at Stoveboltengineco.com sells both a GM original unit and a smaller design as well. I will say though, that I was SUPER happy with the upgrade so no matter which way you go (used or new) its totally worth it. Another option is a pertronix upgrade kit for your current dizzy.

It's one of the best "Bang for the Buck" mods for a 6 in my opinion.I pick them up whenever I see them in the JY.I picked one up just a week or so ago.Any Chevy with an inline 6 is a good donor.I've pulled from Vans,Nova's and PU's.Even once from a Retrofitted 58-59 PU.
If you don't find one or want a used one,shoot me a PM.I run across them pretty often.
