want to go air ride... have a few ?
Ok. So I really want to put my 65 on air. I know alittle about air ride. So i want to know what i need for bags? what is a good cheap management setup. Im not looking to lay frame right now. But might later in time. I do alot of fab work of a living. So that end is not a problem. I will be hualing with it. Nothing crazy. Just a harley from time to time and some parts.
I was thinking about a manual valve setup. Two comps and maybe a five gallon tank. Also where is a good place to buy from? I am on a budget. This truck is my daily driver and i still have alot to do before winter gets here. And its coming quick... Thanks |

Re: want to go air ride... have a few ?
I got all of my air ride stuff from Quality Air Ride ( formerly ***************** ). I got a 5 gal tank, Viair 480 compressor, 8 valves, 3 gauges, 4 bags, controller, air line, pressure switch and water seperator for around $900. They are located in IN so shipping to KY shouldn't be too bad.

Re: want to go air ride... have a few ?
Check with AVS Jason in the vendors section. He will put a package deal together. When I did mine I put the 2" deep cups in the lower A arms and just used the mounting plates he has in the back. Used the 2600 bags all round. I used the simple controls using 4 rocker switches and the gages that show two bags on each one. Plumbed it all with 3/8 tubes. Works just fine.

gauge store has the best prices and ships faster than anyone. other shops will gladly take your order and let everything grow old on back order.

Re: want to go air ride... have a few ?
Check out the suspension forum. I learned more there than anywhere about bags, valves, compressors, everything you could ever WANT to know is there. Also check out the Vendor Market as they run some sick deals.
I know there were some great intro kits last I looked (paddle valves, shrader kits). It depends on how low you want to go, how much work you want to do, and how much you want to spend.

Re: want to go air ride... have a few ?
Well. Im not looking to lay frame. I have all of the stock front barkes out of a 74 c10. So no drop spindles. I think im going to cup the lower control arms and do a small notch in the rear. Ill get the front down first and make the rear match up. I really dont want to raise the floor of the bed up much. I still need to use it as a truck...
My money is kind of tight right now. Im also build an old shovel that is taking alot of my time and money. Thats why i want to go low buck management and fab as much as i can. |

Here is a link to my build thread. I need to update it but I think it shows a lot of the same things you are thinking about doing.

well if you just want one valve, it makes sense to go for the lowest total price. but what I was really saying is, hear me now and believe me later, if you order a bunch of stuff from another vendor there will likely come a day close to 3 weeks after you place the order that you would gladly pay an extra $100 to just receive your full order.

I have nothing against these folks, just wanted to make people aware, 19.95 to ship a 1 lb valve is kind of crazy, could not imagine how much a complete system would cost, I mfg big truck components and freight is a very important factor any more......I thought almost 20.00 was l little excessive...JMO Kieth |

well, looks like most of a complete system would be 56 bucks, which isnt bad for compressor, tank, valves, front brackets, bags, airline, switchbox, yada yada sounds like 20 bucks might be their minimum charge. and I am not a shill for them, just a guy who has ordered from everyone twice and knows who ships stuff and who takes my money and ships whenever they darn well feel like it. order from the guys with the cool website, the guys with the best prices, the guys with the lowest total shipping, whatever, its not up to me.
