for mine it was using the 78 and up El Camino/Malibu wagon rear bumper on the step side. I think JWill41 was the first on I saw it with, but his was a narrowed one. Maybe not my idea, but just one I thought looked so good for the stepside models. The one I have is not narrow, may never be...that is another thought down the line.

A lot of my ideas are not original..... the 4" chopped top, & the steel tilt clip were late 50's /early 60's tricks. shaving has been going for many yrs also. I have a minor (1 1/2" body drop), along with lowered suspension , a smoothed gate, with 6 3 " round tailights & the L plate frenched in. The gear whine of the 6 spd Richmond is pretty awsome , & tends to draw some attention(lots of fun to drive too!) Dual elect fans.....im sure not the 1st to play with that idea, but the engine has more power that you can really "feel"(revs faster). You can get "caught up" in these old trucks really easy! crazyL http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn

I know this is the 67-72 part but I think this is such an interesting topic I will post.... For my 59, we relocated the tank and installed a side bed filler door... This wasnt my idea(obviously) but I said that its what I want on my truck and I put it in...
The other one is totally my idea... My gauge cluster... The original is all black with white lettering... Mine is white with black and red and blue lettering... I havent seen this one done before on the 55-59 style truck so its all my idea, so there, hehe...

Where to start?
I did a caddy engine swap...not original, but I was not influenced by any one else with a 67 - 72.
White guages, again, not influenced.
3rd brake light in the cargo lamp. (I did it before the vendors did...man I need to finish that)
Steel glove box insert,
Chrome glove box door with insert painted black,
Painting the inside of the inst panel white to get rid of the nasty greenish light,

LMAO Jmzlll... I like the way you think...
I saw a truck in a magazine that had some nerf bars over the rollpan. I thought it was a little different so I made some for my truck. Also concealed up inside the trailer hitch and frame is a space saver six lug spare from a Toyota 4X4 on a custom mount that I built.

Hmmmm, .........let me see.
'81-up van "smoothie" side markers, shaved emblems, remote sport mirrors, relocated blazer tank, frenched antenna in the filler hole. Yep, all been done before. LOL!

Oh, does an inverted-letter tailgate count?

I put 70's Trans-Am marker lights on my Blazer. They sit flush and look sweet. Sorry, no pics right now.

yeah, the bumper thing..

I've got to second the narrowed El Camino rear bumper. It really cleaned up the back end of my truck. But the T-5 five speed has made me smile the most. It was more work to adapt than I expected, but it's nice to cruise at 70 and 2100 rpm.
