i dont think there is much advantage running 3" exhaust other than to enrich the exhaust shop owner

2 1/2 with dual flowmaster 40 series is what I will run on my 67 chevy lwb. But not sure if ima go all the way back or come out right behind cab/bed area before wheels. It will be a daily driver hopefully soon.

There is no need to go any bigger than the smallest size opening in the system.
From the exshaust manifold out is no better than the opening in which the pipe is connected to. If your manifold is a 2 1/2 opening then thats as big as you need.

2 1/12 inch is more efficent than the 3 inch. To need the bigger pipe you need a LOT of motor. I'm talking wild big-inch small block or blower stuff, big big-block. Some of those even can do a 2 1/2 inch pipe on a driver and be fine , but an eq tube would help.
