402 bb motor

I bought a 402bb motor to put in my 70 gmc shortbox and was wondering if it would bolt up to my 3 speed manual transmission.

Re: 402 bb motor

The clutch might work but the flywheel won't. When you get a flywheel make sure it is for the 396-402[or whatever] the 396 -402's had a different method of balancing and the flywheel for a 454 will make your motor vibrate and then eat itself from the inside.

Re: 402 bb motor

As long as it is a flywheel and not a flex plate for an automatic, then you should be golden.
You may want to step up to a larger clutch, but in reality I know little to nothing about that.
A question that has not meen asked yet, but would probably be coming up soon anyways, the low hump floor in your truck should be perfectly fine if you set the 402 up like original. The big block/3 speed trucks came with low hump floors.
