Optimum backspacing
I am looking at a set of 18"x8" wheels. The seller tells
me they have a 6.25" backspacing. I will test fit on the truck before purchasing, however the seller is about an hour away. So I don't want to waste my time. The truck is a 1998 extended cab shortbox 2wd. The truck will be dropped 4/6 when done. There is also a possibility they may be 9" wide. He is at work and couldn't remember. Re: Optimum backspacing
6.25" would be a TON of backspacing for an 8" wheel. My 10" rear wheels only have 6" of backspacing. 6.25-6.5" would be more optimal for a bagged truck (on a 10" wheel), but I like the deeper fronts and they work with my setup that doesn't quite lay frame.
My front 8" wheels have 5" of backspacing, which is just about right. Last edited by 1badgmc; 09-06-2011 at 10:01 PM. |

Re: Optimum backspacing
I thought they might be a little deep, I think I'll give them a test fit anyways.

Re: Optimum backspacing
Supposedly he had them on a 1991 reg cab. But I have learned to never take anyone's word for it. Especially where money is concerned.

Re: Optimum backspacing
Ha Ha, Not a chance, they wouldn't even fit over the hub on the fronts. I'm pretty sure they were jeep wheels. Turns out he used spacers in order to run them on a chev truck. Information that would've been nice to know earlier
