Steering Column Gap
I have a non-tilt factory steering column out of a 1971 Chevy truck that I am installing in my 1972 Chevy truck. There is a 1/4 gap between the base of the steering wheel and the top of the column. How much of a gap should be between the steering wheel base and the steering column? It seems like it should sit flush so it looks odd.

You sure the steering wheel nut is tightened down all the way?

They can very. I'd say most are less than a 1/4".
First off is it the stock steering wheel? Asmentioned, it may not have snugged down on all the way also.

It is a stock steering wheel. I will check the steering wheel nut tomorrow and let you know. The odd this is it was flush in the donor truck and I did not take the steering wheel apart at the top. I took the shaft off that goes between the gear box and column when I removed and installed it.
