My 1951 pick up

i have just bought a 51 stepside, after searching for about a year for the right one. It has just been imported to the UK and is in really good shape , so glad i found this forum too, loads of inspiration and information here, heres a few photos, plan is to put in a 350, mustang2 front , 4 bar rear and put it on air

thanks for all the positive comments, i will keep the pics coming when i start work on it, it will be in the workshop next week. The first thing is to get it uk road legal, then i can start on modifying

the truck now has its new home in the garage
i started to strip out the cab, the bench is all original and moves well .
removed the fuel tank as this is where i plan to put the air set up .
its gonna be a slow build but worth the waiting .

a bit of a progress update, work has been slow but all is good , i have removed the bed, and gave the frame a clean and removed all the old wiring loom and clocks as none of it really worked.
Next step is to keep hunting for a new engine , SBCs are a bit thin on the ground over here , so just being patient.
I have picked up a 10 bolt rear and am going to remove the engine and front end very soon .
If anyone can identify my engine please let me know what i have

Not sure if you already have the mustang II yet but if you don't then you may consider dropping in a series 2 Jaguar front end. I have one that I'll be putting in mine shortly. They are a really well built front end with all the factory alignment already built in, power steering rack, upper and lower wishbones etc and they unbolt from the donor car as one complete unit.
Most people weld them directly into the chassis but I will be hoping to keep mine as a bolt in unit maintaining the factory mounts by making brackets to attach it to my frame. Above all they are a way cheaper alternative to the mustang II and really worth a look. Do a site search and see what you come up with. It looks like a later model 235. It was a common practice to swap out the old 216 with the much better 235 around the late 50's early 60's.

I'm no expert but I have several of these trucks in the 70's as they were cheap to buy ($50) and were good for work and every one had the 235 swap done before I purchased them.
