Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
I am on a quest to find someone here that has found where to mount a 5 gallon tank on the 67-72 C10 that has a rear mount gas tank and a mild c-notch. There has to be someone here that has figured this one out..... and I'd rather not do an in-bed mount.

Will it fit behind the seat inside the cab?

On the side of the frame under the bed side. You have a space that should be plenty big enough for a 5 gallon tank depending on the dimensions. Either in front of the wheel or behind. My long bed has a space that is 30x14x12 that has a reserve gas tank in it now.

Re: Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
From the measurements I took.. it looks like it would hang down below the body if I did that. Id like to see if there is anyone here that has actually done it. I found one build that a guy did 2 - 3 gallon tanks... just no one with a 5 gallon.

What are the measurements of your tank? I know some of the 3 gallons are the some diameter as the 5 gallon, just longer. I know you could do 2 3 gallon tanks, one on either side of the frame behind the wheel.

Re: Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
your question is the very reason I went with 2- 3gallon tanks ... I could never come up with a good place to put a single 5 gallon under a stepside bed with a rear-mounted tank.

Re: Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
Well most everyone I have talked to..... Even Nate at Porterbuilt says they all run 2 - 3 gallon tanks. So I upgraded my order with the Accuair system to the 2 - 3 gallon tanks and 2 compressors. Cant want to get them!!

Re: Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
I placed my two 3 gallon tanks in front of either tire. My thoughts were that the tire would kick stuff up at it if they were placed behind the tire. The bright side of going to two tanks is that you get an extra gallon or air.
I also used aluminum hard lines on my air supply side of the valve block to help ensure i never lost air. Eventually i would like to run hard lines to the bags. |

Short beds fit 3 gal, long beds fit 5 gallon 7" diameter tanks. Thats our experience.

Re: Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
I am installing a 9" diameter under the bed in front of the rear axle on a 66 gmc swb fleetside.....tucked it up tight and it is above the frame rail so it should not show when the truck is back on the ground. Kieth

Re: Where to mount 5 gallon air tank with rear gas tank??
I mounted two 5 gal tanks (one on each side) between the cab mounts on the outside of the frame. You have something like 37 inches between the cab mounts. The tanks I got from AVS are 28x7. With the tank mounted so that it clears the cab reinforcement under the floor pans, the lowest point on the tanks is even with the bottom of the frame.
