Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
thanks geoff,... I got the door welded back together and rehung it and it only needed a little tweeking along the bottum to get it lined back up with the rocker.I've still been working on the cab when time allows doing body work. working bondo is not as easy as it looks but I'm getting the hang of it.
I got the grill out saturday and sandblasted it, it only had a few pin holes after blasting so I welded those up prior to shooting it with epoxy primer today. I'm trying to get all the sheetmetal I have in its first coat of primer as time allows, I've still got to hunt up a hood, pass. door and radiator support eventually when I'm in better financial shape.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
been a lot of hit and miss random work on the truck lately. I pretty much got the body work done on the cab today with the help of my dad, just need to work on the inside cab floor and firewall now.
I've been working on the body work on the fenders also, I'm going to blast the inside of them next week along with the tailgate. overall the fenders are in pretty good shape. I also started working on blasting the a arms, like I said my work has been kind of random, I'm trying to do the things that can be done on the cheap.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
thanks 70 longhorn cst...I finally got the a-arms blasted and painted, I had a lot of paint mixed so I cleaned up the engine stands and painted them also.this is the same paint I did my chassis in it's a silver off a 95 chevy truck that I got mixed in acrylic enamel. The first pic is of a lower arm blasted before paint.

Looks good! It is amazing how much time it takes to get cab repairs done.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
The door turned out pretty good , it will take some bondo work to make it good along the outer bottum and the inner weld seam, it shouldn't take much though. so overall I'm happy with the results.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
Ok so its been a while since I did any work on the truck, I started a new job six months ago after being laid off for over a year. Between that and some remodeling projects on my house the truck has been on the back burner.
I ordered the mirror piece for the firewall from porterbuilt about a month ago and started working on fitting it today. It was a beautifully made piece, all I had to do was trim it to fit. Here's a couple pics of the work in process, I am body working the area where the blower motor was before welding this piece in as it would be hard to get to with this piece welded in.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
I also started doing some work on the fenders, I sand blasted the inside of the fenders and the firewall on the truck a couple weeks ago. The inner fenders had surface rust on them, after blasting I put the insides and firewall in epoxy primer. Other than some small dings the only bad place was on the pass. fender right in front of the turn signal, there was a glob of bondo on the inside of the fender, after doing some grinding I found someone had filled a hole with bondo. I guess it was to much trouble to do it the right way, so I cut it out and made a patch and started welding it in. Not sure how this hole got here?
