Towing
Good Morning All,
I have a 1979 C-20 R-400 Transmission newly rebuilt. Can this truck be towed without disconnecting the driveline or putting a pump on the transmission? Dave |

Re: Towing
Lift it from the rear than none of the drivetrain will be moving

Re: Towing
pull an axle shaft from the rear
disconnect the drive shaft and tie it up tow with the rear lifted |

Re: Towing
I towed my 3/4 ton Longhorn from El Centro Ca. to San Diego Ca. and removed the drive line and everything was fine. I didn't fry any gears and it was smooth towing all the way. The total time was about two hours and it was about 127 miles.

Re: Towing
The only way around disconnecting anything, and towing it with the rear wheels on the ground, is to fire up the truck, put it in netral, and let it idle the whole time it is being towed. Just hope it doesn't overheat or catch fire or run out of fuel or even just stall.
