'74 K10 Needs Tailgate Chains
Any trusted sites you know of that would be selling stainless steel tailgate chains that would fit on a '74 K10 and possibly sell or come with chain covers as well? I've been going without chains for awhile now and have been holding the tailgate up with pad locks. That's fine and dandy but once the tailgate is open, it sags down and I'm starting to worry about damaging it with use. No links to modern conversion kits please. I want some classic chains.
Needs to be able to ship to California in the USA. Last edited by Karnage; 09-21-2011 at 01:39 AM. |

couldnt you just get chain and connectors in Lowes and put them into a sliced bicycle tube for the black rubber protection? LMC does sell tailgate chains tho

Got to you local HomeDepot... buy about 4 ft. the size/style chain you want then head over to the plumbing dept. and buy about 4 ft. of clear vinyl tubing just big enough diameter to pull the chain through. If you want your chain to stay shiny I'd also stop by the paint dept. and pickup a rattle can of some Krylon clear to spray the chains with to keep them from rusting/tarnishing.

Re: '74 K10 Needs Tailgate Chains
yeah... I realize the whole setup consist of more than just the chains itself as I own a 57 chevy that has chains as well. Not knowing what parts of the setup you had and didn't have, I was just thinking of a low cost alternative to get the "chains" you were looking for. I guess it just depends on what you want and what youre willing to shell out the bucks for.
