speedometer cable question



which die do I use to clean up these threads. Can't get my speedometer cable started because the threads are messed up.

If you have to remove it to clean it up just replace it with a new one then your guaranteed it wont leak should be less than $28.00

I'm pretty sure that is going to be an odd thread but don't know that for a fact.
Take the bolt out and it will slide right out then you can clean the threads up with a three cornered file. Make sure the speedo gear comes out with it.
If that doesn't work someone on the parts board should have one for a four speed.

This is on a transfer case is it not threaded into the case?

That is a different story...I don't have a clue. In that case I would have the Mods move it to the 4x4 forum...

there is a hold down bolt that you remove and that speedo bullet will slide out with the gear
