Little help with the hood please....

I am about to re-paint my underhood and needed a few questions answered.

First of all, should I paint it black or orange?

I ordered the hood brace pads from LMC but they are so thin they do nothing to support the hood. Should I buy others and should I glue them in and paint over them?

Here is a picture so you can see what i am working with.

Thanks,

My '68 stepside is still the original RPO 516 Orange. There is a "Z" in my vin so we know it was assenbled in Fremont, Calif. The underside of my hood is now a very faded, dust encrusted, charcoal gray. I'm thinking its original color was that commom production spray of semi-flat chassis black lacquer.
Go with the black if you want historical resto, or shoot it orange if you want that show truck look.
Your truck -- your call.

Some came painted body color, others were black.
I would go with black, I think color looks kinda funny.

i personally disagree....i think the black is to obtrusive and it actually highlights the engine compartment if it is painted the body color......i like the inner fenderwells to remain black and the core support black also......j.m.o......
