I got a reply with someone offering me a welder. Hf sku 98871.
He says its mig but it says fluxcore in the pics. What do u guys think? I want it for small basic things/ practice til i can afford a miller or so on. Think it will blow through sheet metal? I have no welding experiance

Having trouble selling the woofers! So i said why not trade.

Re: Welder help

No clue here. Don't weld and don't know stereo stuff.
What's your barter items worth (to you)?

I'm sure someone with more knowledge of both will chime in.

Re: Welder help

According to Hf's website, that welder is on sale right now for 119$.
Seems to have good reviews but keep in mind, flux welding is messy and requires alot of slag removal with an angle grinder.
I personally would hold out for a welder that atleast has the ability to upgrade to gas later on. Once you learn to weld, you're gonna want it. Trust me on this. I have a Lincoln 110 with the gas conversion and it has welded everything I have thrown at it. Total investment was well under 500$.

Re: Welder help

Save your pennies and skip the junk welder. That welder is flux core only. Its not hot enough for heavy steel and it doesnt have enough heat adjustment for sheetmetal. Flux core wire makes a mess as well. Why not sell your stuff outright? A fair trade is going to be hard to find.

Re: Welder help

Better to not throw good money after bad. You have a good set of woofers and to trade for a mediocre welder is not a good trade. that welder id good for hand rails and lawn mowers. Sheet metal and frame work require a much better welder. Save up and buy a good one. In this economy there are deals to be had on CL.
