track width

I am thinkin about running a newer style wheel on my 69 C-10. It is 6 lug in the front. 6x5.5 I assume? I am looking for a rear end now. I was wondering if a newer model Tahoe or 1/2 rearend will be narrow enough.

Will the new model 6 lug wheels fit on my original 6 lug pattern?

The bolt pattern is the same.
But the "bore" of the newer wheel's center hole is smaller.
The center hole would have to be machined bigger.

The offset of these wheels is wrong also.
They will be sucked under the fenders too much.

Spacers is one cure, that many people have used,... to fix these problems.

The newer Tahoe rearend might be the perfect width.
But it would require some mods to fit your '69.

(Does your '69 have a coil spring or leaf spring rearend).

Re: track width

Here is what I was thinking. The tahoe had 17" steel wheels. I thought they would give it a cool look. My 69 will be bagged and body dropped. So I will have a custom backhalf.

Will the backspacing help on a bagged vehicle? or will I still have issues with the fitment?

Thanks

Re: track width

An '88 and newer rear end will be aprox 3.5" wider than your '69 rear end. If you were to run the later model wheels with the deep backspacing, that would help compensate. I would suggest keeping your '69 12 bolt and updating or modifying it to suit your needs.
