Looking for a daily, questions?

I'm normally in the 67-72 area, but i'm looking for a daily in the next year or so. I have some questions?
When did extended cabs start being made?
Ideally I want a 4X4 350 manual tranny
How difficult is it to convert to 4X4 or the manual tranny?
When was fuel injection introduced?
What are some common issues to look for?
Lastly, price? Good shape, good running, minimal rust. Will be willing to do some work if the price is right.
Any other input or suggestions are appreciated, Thanks.

88+ round body style trucks where the first to be produced in extended cab. There were some extended cab squares that were built by aftermarket conversion companies, but they are very rare.

All the 88+ round style trucks were fuel injected, and you can find 350 4x4 manuals.

Re: Looking for a daily, questions?

1987 squarebodies were TBI, so that sounds like it would be ideal for you. Find a nice 87 K10, 20, or 30 with a 4 speed and a 350 and get the best of all worlds. Some common issues are cracks in the frame near the steering box. I think ORD sells a brace for the frame there to prevent it, it's quick and well worth it to put in. You can find pretty clean ones for about $3000 or so in my area, but to get a nice, lower-mileage model you'll pay $5-7K. All depends on how nice you want it to be.
