Rear end question

I have a 91 K2500 with a 14 bolt , 8 lug , 9 1/2 inch rear . Has this one got the crush sleeve or does it have the pinion spacer . How much play should there be at the yoke while twisting left and right . Thanks for any help .

Re: Rear end question

It uses a crush sleeve if it's a stock axle. You'll need a 3/4" breaker bar and a cheater to get a proper crush. Don't go too far or you'll be installing a new crush sleeve and starting over.
A spacer requires shims and they take way more time to setup. They can't ever crush further though.

Its going to be hard to tell twisting left and right because you are feeling the spiders gears lash and axles and it can seem like it has too much when it could be fine.

Best bet is to pull cover and hold yoke and see how much backlash on the ring gear.
