Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
I was wondering if the body mounts line up for dropping a crew cab on a sub frame. Do you need to cut the rear of the cab too so it will clear the frame rails?
Has anyone done this and would they mind giving me pointers and pics......? |

Re: Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
What size tires are you planning on running? The suburban wheelbase is a few inches shorter than a regular cab longbed.

Re: Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
There was someone here who combined a suburban frame with the rear section of a shortbed frame in order to make a crew cab shortbed frame. From what I remember, the crew cab dropped right on to the existing mounts.

Re: Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
That would be sick it lined up. Throw an alunimum short flatbed behind the cab. Some lift and H2 wheels... Could be nice. Someone with time and money should build it for us to look at.

Re: Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
Not without some modification. You have to build a mount for the rear cab mounts.
Here is a picture of someones that did this. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showpos...17&postcount=5

Re: Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
Not everyone needs the longbed (or long bed dually) but they may need the passenger space... makes it easier to drive/park. Besides.... it just looks cool.
Also, the shorter wheelbase (as compared to the CC longbed) is good in just about every off road situation, not just rocks.

Re: Crew Cab on Suburban Frame
I am not a fan of the long overhang on the frame that the suburban has.
3+3, thanks for posting these pictures. The cab corner to tire distance seems close and makes me think I would prefer the extra couple of inches in wheelbase that a regular cab longbed has, which is what I had planned on all along. What kind of bed do you have on there or plannong in putting on there?
