Switching lug patterns

I currently have an 8 lug set up, but want to switch to 5 or six. Can this be done by switching the axles in the rear or do I need a new rear end? Also the front is disc brake (71, 3/4 ton) can I just switch the Hub/Rotor with a half ton Hub/Rotor, or am I gonna need new spindles and the whole nine?????

Re: Switching lug patterns

There are different ways to do this, but the easiest would to be find a donor 71 or 72 C-10 Pickup (71 and 72's all have disc brakes, disc brakes were an opton in 70, just look for the 5 lugs...), and swap the rear end, and front end. The whole front crossmember is bolted in, and can be transplanted into yours, if the rear springs are the same...

I guess I should have asked if yours is leaf spring or coil??? That will make a difference. The most sommon C-10 stuff will be coil spring. Leaf springs are an option on half ton stuff, though seldom seen.

Re: Switching lug patterns

I would guess the rear end would need to be changed out completely and the front end would take the whole nine . Again that just a guess on my behalf
