Forgot to mention, Geico is being incredibly professional with this, although we're at Day 8 without an resolution. We'll see what their numbers are...maybe later today.

They totaled mine instantly, one look was all they needed. I didn't even get a chance at a rental.

Funny too, Progressive pulled a really nasty move on me at first. First few words with the adjuster was something to the effect of "I can just cut you this check right now for $125 and we can be done with this." Our reply (me and my dad) was "It's going to be much, much harder than that". I'm not even joking about this. That was really an insult that they would do something like that and it paints a pretty clear picture of how that company works.

Glad to here that Geico is treating you alright so far.

As odd as that sounds, from an insurance company/market standpoint, you could be exactly correct.

Here is what I suggest. See what they have to offer, have them give you a value if you keep it, and a value if they take it. There shouldn't be too much of a difference between these values--gathering what I have from how you describe the condition of your truck. You have to understand that sometimes it costs an insurance company more money to dispose of your vehicle, so in some cases they would rather have you keep your truck. Ask them if they can offer you something for loss of use (rental).

If you think the value is fair, then take it. Regardless of what any of us here think, you know what you would take for your truck and be satisfied. Some people go in there with guns blazing and get into trouble when they start thinking they are entitled to much more than they are legally owed.

I thought I posted this already, but must have not have saved it...

Geico sent over their valuation report Friday afternoon. First offer is just under $1700, but I countered with receipts for close to $1000 in parts like intake, carb, header, hitch, brake controller, etc.

I'm guessing they'll add maybe 10-20% of that to the offer.

Buyback is also estimated at 10-20% of vehicle value...So perhaps I can walk away with the truck plus $1500 or so in my pocket.

On its face, the offer seems pretty fair considering the overall condition of the truck before the wreck.

thts good if you get it back and keep t going on the road..if you can get some pics of the headers im really intersted in getting some for my 76 just never seen them before
