Last week I decided to re-paint my front wheels, when I pulled them off I noticed the brake pads were about done. So I jumped in Wifey's car ran and got some pads. While I was at it re packed the bearings good to go. A couple of days ago I noticed some trans. fluid on the ground, then a vibration. Ok front u joint, and trans seal. While there I saw the trans mount looked bad and the vac hose to the module was cracked, so back in Wifey's car to the parts store. Got it all fixed today. Every time I do one thing it leads to two or three. Still beats driving a F**d.

I'll rephrase what you said though, "beats having a car payment".

Pandora's box may have been a step side. Sometimes it seems checking the air pressure ends up replacing the transfer case. "Beats not being able to fix it."

That's standard procedure around my place on all my rides, I can't do just one thing without doing 3-4 or more others. I've gotten so use to it I look first before going to the parts store so all I have is one trip.

Like Randy mentioned...... "beats having a car payment", I just smile as I cruise past all those fancy shiny new vehicles.

Once you get the last thing fixed the first thing you fixed will be worn out.

Your old cars must be more considerate than mine. Mine rarely wait for everything to be done before starting the "recycling" program.

As long as I get a lifetime warranty and the parts house doesn't go under...

With these trucks, we must realize that parts will have to be changed. I try to work in different sections at a time in order of priority- fresh fluids/fuel/ignition/brakes/tranny/electrical, etc. Something will always sneak up but I think these trucks are more reliable and built better than the new trucks out there.
New trucks might ave more comforts and smoother running engines but these old trucks are workhorses that were built like a Truck, Not like a car.

Just fix in order of priority and its always great to have a back up vehicle no matter what truck/car u r driving.

This is why mine's getting a complete disassembly before it hits ths street. No surprises.
