Oil Pan Options/Which

So I am building a motor for my truck. 1980 block 350. The block has ability to put the dip stick on either side. The issue I have is trying to figure out what oil pan I want.

Is there anything special about fitment in the 67-72 vs all the rest? Cross-member clearance etc.

Also for a street truck that might see a little work action should I consider an Aluminum pan? I really like the look and my motor is going to be black with Either Chrome or Aluminum accessories. Leaning towards alum.

Or should I just go with a steel pan and call it good painting over to look good?

My biggest concern wit hte aluminum is it breaking when hit on something vs bending....

What would you do?

Re: Oil Pan Options/Which

The 80 up pans should all pretty much work. They are all configured about the same. I would stay with a steel pan and not chrome. Never had good luck with sealing a chrome pan.
