What alarm system/security device are you using?
Now that my truck is finally running super good I'm afraid to leave it unattended !!!
I plan on using it as a (semi) daily driver so I can't be paranoid about it being stolen when I run into the grocery store ... Any advice, tips, what are you guys using (12 gauge? lol) ??? etc. Thanks! |

Re: What alarm system/security device are you using?
My mustang has keyed hood locks, my truck isn't that on the road yet but I was thinking about maybe putting a keyed battery shutoff or something of that nature, although its usual security is being stationed in the back of my property ...
bottom line is, if someone WANTS your vehicle, its gonna happen, my goal is to stop the idiot impulse thief Electric fuel pump/hidden shutoff switch will only let the theif get a block away...

Murph the cattle hound for home alarm, Glock. I may put some type of system on it when I get it done but certainly will not talk about it on a public forum.

rattlesnakes during the summer, when i get it rewired i'll install some hidden "kill" switches. of course that will only keep the amatuers away, if they have means to haul it away i couldn't stop them, but i would't be parking it overnight away from my house. the one good thing about working at a DOE nuclear weapons sight is that someone will have a hard time getting past the gaurds, and thier assortment of "defensive measures"

I think if they really want it you can't stop them, they will car jack you and take it, however I would think loJack would help. I was watching tv lastnight and they showed how they stole a later model truck, they used a reprogrammed ECU with all the security features disabled, one guy swapped the brain will the other worked on the ignition, then 2 days later that truck is for sale using another frame and vin #.

Re: What alarm system/security device are you using?
yeah, tough one. I'm going to a car alarm shop to discuss options but don't want to spend a lot of money if it indeed is all futile. Home is safe so thats cool.
Is there some sort of cable lock for these vintage trucks to lock the hood? I sure don't want to drill any holes ... Lo Jack is an option but wouldn't the police find it a day later ... stripped? Thanks for your input |
