1972 side window install
Does anyone know a method to getting the side window back in? Is there secret to doing this? I am about to get the hammer out or throw it across the street.

Yes.
Patience. Seriously. And lots of it. This type of task is very hard to explain with words but the bottom line is technique and patience. On glass installation, regulator needs to be in the down position and the rear regulator roller has to go in the window track first. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, these trucks are a religion and the FACTORY service manual is the bible. And often times the factory manual comes in as a saving grace, especially for BODY type tasks such as window regulators. |

Have you sufficiently sliced your forearms? You must offer a blood sacrifice before it will go together.
I've found it's useful to have an extra set of hands, and use vice grips to keep the rollers you got in from coming back out. I know exactly how you feel, but it is possible. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1972 side window install
Take the in/outer glass wipes off, roll the regulator up and it will come past the door exposing the rollers, tilt the glass out a little, slide onto the rollers and roll the window down into the door-simple and painless! Oh yeah; you can't do this with the vent window in place either but it's worth it to gut the door for this, still saves time and headache. I've done it this way many many times.

Re: 1972 side window install
The best part is getting your arm suck in the door opening just enough to temporarily think your not going to get it out! I always get one in without any problem and completely forget how I did so easily when it's time to do the other! After awhile I start wishing I knew a person who worked in the door window department! They are either super easy or a total pain in the anus! Good luck!

Re: 1972 side window install
The other thing that makes it easier is to not have the window felts installed - you have a lot more wiggle room.
