Cool Opinion on interior color scheme

This might sound dumb, but I am wanting to have a black/red color scheme inside my truck. It already has red trim pieces and the interior is painted red. However, when I replace the upper dash and door panels, I want them black. Do you all think the door panels will clash with the color of the other trim pieces? Also thought about doing a headliner in black and keeping the trim pieces red.

Just getting ideas for this coming spring. It will all be about the interior.

Thanks.

I think it would look kind of cool, I say go for it! Worst comes to worst, you can always paint the trim with the plastic/vinyl dye, and have it mostly black other than red sheet metal. Options are pretty endless when it comes to interior.

Re: Opinion on interior color scheme

Should look pretty good. My current interior is like 3 different shades of black, lol. I'm aiming for black and silver though

Re: Opinion on interior color scheme

I like all black with red seats, and this isn't far from it. I would keep the headliner and trim the same color, though. Posts pics- it should look good.

Re: Opinion on interior color scheme

I was thinking about doing the exact same thing to my 85. All black except for the dash metal, which would remain red (body color)

I think it will look stunning.

Here's mine (before and after):

The ladies at my house always hated the red/maroon/burgandy combination, even when it was new.

Re: Opinion on interior color scheme

Hey, that does look good! Did you change out all interior trim pieces for black?

Yes - except for the belts. I was twisting off the fasteners, so I put the red belts back in (so I would be stuck with a twisted off bolt requiring repair behind the fuel tank).

Those parts (IP top pad, door trim panels and armrest) are right out of the LMC catalog. I took the LMC door panels and reinstalled my original '87 Scottsdale trim (the black grained insert).

One other trick you might not notice is that the A/C outlets are normally chromed; I painted them argent silver, just to clean them up (saved me about $100).

I reused my original gage cluster bezel and IP trim plate (the black grained insert).

Great pictures. The only thing better than clear accurate answers are clear accurate answers with pictures.

Re: Opinion on interior color scheme

Keith, about your upper dash, is that a dash pad cover or a new replacement? Thanks.
