Oil Pressure gauge.

Hello,

A few weeks ago I had to replace the nylon oil pressure line because it developed a bad leak. I bought an Autometer brass line to use instead. When I installed the brass line, it had tapered balls with a hole on either end. One end of the tubing was fairly easy to thread thru the "ball", the other end I had to sand to get the ball to stick to the end of the line.

Today, I found an oil spot underneath my Sunpro oil gauge. This is the same end that I had to sand and was not able to get the ball completely on.

My question is this, do those balls collapse after initial use to provide a seal? I haven't pulled the line off to see the condition of it. My guess is the ball did not seal proper and allowing oil to blow by.

Thanks.

Re: Oil Pressure gauge.

may have gotten a little rough area under the compression ball whick could cause a little leak. I usually cut a little long and put the ball on and cut to length. Makes for a good connection that way.
