Tach help

Just finished installing a tach in place of the HUGE fuel gauge, and have the small fuel gauge in the lower left spot on the cluster. Got everything wired up and work except for the fact the tach seems to read low(halfway between 5 and 0) when idling in gear. Haven't taken it out for a drive, but upon revving, the rpms seem good. Also, they seem good when in park or neutral. The cluster that I used to add to mine was from a light duty 8cyl truck. Think the tach is dyeing? Maybe need to pop the needle off and re-position?

Also, figured I'd post a pic of what the gauges are going to look like when completed:

Re: Tach help

when it is idling in gear it is going to naturaly lower the RPM of the motor as it is pushing against the TQ convt. if at idle in neutral or park you are around 700 rpm then in gear at idle little below 500 sounds about right to me.

Re: Tach help

Sounds and idles fine. Just set the idle to 550 rpm in gear. Used WinALDL to get the rpms.
