What is the best exhaust configuration?
I put an 86 chevy 350 in my 69 gmc, it has an edelbrock performer intake and 1405 edelbrock carb with no emissions. Currently the exhaust manifold come together. What is the best option for my exhaust configuration and what can I expect? FYI I don't drive fast but enjoy the drive.
Do I separate the exhaust and run exhaust out from each manifold? Do I run both manifolds into one and run it out as one? Do I run both manifolds into one then separate into two? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What is the best exhaust configuration?
Run both side out separate, but with a crossover closer to the front. I,personally, have never run a crossover and never felt I lacked anything. But,using a crossover is what common knowledge seems to support.

Re: What is the best exhaust configuration?
Crossovers with smooth out the exhaust sound. Less poppy, if that makes sense.
I am running a 2.25" hearthrob dual system, with a Jegs h pipe.

Re: What is the best exhaust configuration?
I would do Dual exhuast with a H or X pipe and run it all the way out the rear.I know many like side exit but I like the more "balanced" sound from twice pipes side by side.Use a quality muffler, listen to Magnaflows,Dynomax and others to determine which sound you like best for the kind of driving you'll be doing.2 1/4-2 1/2 should be big enough unless you plan on building more motor.
