Red face Factory Sway Bar Install help

Just bought a used factory sway bar off of here and need some help. My truck doesnt' have a sway bar, and wanted to improve the handling. The front end dips pretty bad in corners.
Would like some pics/info on mounting location of swaybar! And of installed sway bar. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

Thanks! Need a few more angles though. That's a good start! Also would the bolt holes already be in my frame? Or will I have to drill?!

This is my 71 front bar.
I had to drill 2 holes I think. It's been awhile.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

Got another question! In that thread some mentioned they bolted it directly to the frame. Is that ok? Would it cause any problems?

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

To my knowledge, directly to the frame is mostly for lowered trucks, you want the sway bar to stay somewhat "level" with the frame. Im not sure how much lowering it requires to go directly to the frame, I am using the Early Classic "lowered" mounting brackets for my sway bar currently.

I may go straight to the frame after I get drop spindles and re-configure my lower control arm/air bag situation....

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

Drop spindles should not change the sway bar but the air bags and cups will later on. Kieth

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

I agree, I guess I should've have stated that it was mostly due to changing the lower arms and the about of drop I will have at the arms when aired out. (Which should be better with the drop spindles because of my unique set up currently)

Thank you for clarifying/correcting me!!

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

So since I'm gonna keep stock hieght ( I think anyway) May do 1" drop springs. I don't wanna go too low, just the style I'm going for. I should use the Factory brackets, or at least ECE brackets?

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

I would say so, I think it would be hard to mount the bar at stock height straight to the frame. The ECE brackets are about half the "height" (drop really) of the stock bracket I beleive. Some else can probably confirm this as well....

ECE brackets are about 1/2 the height of the stock units.
Mounting directly to the frame is about the same amount of change.

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

Thanks guys! I think that clears it up! I'll use the stock brackets for now, if I drop I'll get ECE brackets!

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

Going to get bolts to bolt my swaybar up. Anyone know what length to use? I know I need grade 8 bolts and I think 3/8" in diameter.

Re: Factory Sway Bar Install help

3/8 x 1 will work but you will need to use longer ones to get the bushings compressed first. Or just use the longer ones but extra thread sticking out is one of my pet peaves.
