Replacement door latches
I really really like the Altman latches but didn't want to spend that much right now. I tried to order a stock replacement from Classic Parts but learned that they had stopped selling the 47-51 latch due to numerous problems they were having with it. (LMC has also discontinued this item as well) They said that only one company was manufacturing these and they won't carry it anymore unless they can find another viable source. I have been able to locate them on other sights but I'm leary. Does anyone know of another option (besides the bearclaw) that wont require much modification?

Re: Replacement door latches
I didn't want to spend that much money on the altman latches, but it was worth it. All you need to do is a little cutting and it bolts right in. The only problem is you no longer can lock the doors from the inside.

How are you locking the drivers door?

You lock it from the outside with the key.

Not on the drivers side you don't...unless you've done some extra cutting.

Re: Replacement door latches
So the kit has provisions for adding an outside lock for the driver side door?

Re: Replacement door latches
I'm not sure I'd call it provisions...other than to say that if you cut a lock into the driver's door you would be able to hook it up like the passenger side is. I think I'm going the power lock route with mine, for keyless entry.

Re: Replacement door latches
So you're saying that if you cut a hole in the door, the drivers latch can accept the lock just like the passenger side, right?

Re: Replacement door latches
Take a look at the triquemfg website. That's where I got mine. Use your existing interior and exterior handles.

Re: Replacement door latches
Do they work with the 47-51 door handles?

Yes, I have the turn down handles on my 49. That's the primary reason I went with these, as I didn't want to switch to the pushbutton style and they had it figured out.
