Camper top/ bed cap question

Hi. Brand new to the site and it looks quite informative. I own a 1987 V-10 short bed. When searching for a camper top/bed cap, do i have to limit my search to 73-87 or will other years and makes fit my bed? Ideally I would like to find a matching factory color (midnight blue) top, but I am sure chances of that are slim. I would like it to look and fit almost like a Blazer.

Re: Camper top/ bed cap question

For the best fit, you should look for a 73-87 top. But, ford and dodge trucks from the 80's had beds that were very similar in size to GM's at the top rail. Back then trucks looked different but had some similarities, won't fit perfect but will work.

Re: Camper top/ bed cap question

Ok cool. Will have to keep my eye out for one. Not many of those caps, if any, around here. These year trucks are somewhat limited here. totally different subject here, but I noticed you have the thrush welded mufflers. How do you like them? I just put a set of 2.5 inch on my truck. I have full length headers as well but they are very quiet. I had to put some mini cats on to pass smog. Not sure if that is quieting them, but not to happy with them. I have a 3 inch exhaust on my charger with Flomaster 1 chamber, factory cats and no headers and its night and day with the sound level.

Re: Camper top/ bed cap question

I like my thrush welded, they have a great sound, and they don't drone like flowmasters. I have cats and long tubes. The truck isn't very loud, which I prefer in a truck I use almost every day.

The trush I have on my S10, is alot louder then whats on the 84. But it has 3" exhaust, and a muther thumper cam, which it hard to make quiet with anything.
