instrument cluster not working on 02

the instrument cluster is not working on my 2002 tahoe. i have checked all the fuse's under the hood and in the dash. they are all good. when i turn on the ingishon the check engine light and stuff comes on and then when i turn it on it goes off but nun of the gauges are working

common issues with the gauges for the cluster to go out there are replacements out there dorman remans them with a life time warranty i order mine though advance auto parts they run anywhere between 2-300 buxs depending on which one is in there

i found a replacement 1 but will i have to worry about reseting the odomiter.

no, BCM contains odo information not the cluster.

pretty sure the clusters are the same 00-02 an then change in 03.

hm. are the tahoes different than the silverados? i had an '01, and the BCM was under the drivers seat, im 100% sure.

that is interesting that they would contain it in something so easily replaced.

that mihgt be so but i know the vine and mileage are both stored int eh gauge cluster on these becaus ei have to give them the vin and mileage take about 3 days to get and when i plug it in the milegae is less caus eof the 4 day wait time nomrally its only like 30-40 miles if that

well i was driving the tahoe 2day and out of nowhere the cluster starts working. im like cool you know. so i drive for a few mile's and think maybe it working agin. i stop to get gas so i kill it. i go to start it back up and its not working so i realy have no clue whats going on.

sounds like you've got a connection and/or wiring problem

by the way kSStamp0182 i love that swb you have man realy nice truck. i did one to a 74 swb we put the 8.1l in it. id post pics but i dont know how.

thanks man, & that sounds awesome. i thought of that too! but i plan on swappin the longblock out in the future for a whippled stroker built by Texas Speed & a built 4L80E ONE DAY haha.

ill be addin more photos this weekend, its came along alot since i last updated that thread, just havent found the time to put it all together.

The clusters can be fixed, the stepper motors go bad for the gauges.

The 99-02 clusters are not known to go bad, I bet you have a bad connection or wiring issue.
