Clueless in Nashville - Front End Questions
Before any of you say anything, yes I'm sure the answer to all of my questions lie somewhere in the FAQ or build thread, but at the point I'm at more information is only going to confuse me even more.
Here's my questions: 1. Are all LCA's and UCA's the same on all 67-72 1/2 tons? 2. In regards to question #1 above, does that mean that balljoints from any of those years work? In other words, will 67 BJ's work in the UCA's/LCA's as well as 72 BJ's? Here's why I'm confused...I'm trying to determine which drop spindles to order 67-69 or 70-72 (or however they're broken up). No, it's not as easy as just buying the spindles for the year of my truck. My truck is a '69 BUT the PO "MAYBE" put a 71 frond end with 5 lug disc brakes/spindles on it. SO, here's what I think I'm gonna do...(until y'all tell me otherwise) 1. Buy drop spndles for a 71 2. Buy new upper and lower BJ's to fit 71 spindles Is this a "DUH" question? Sorry guys, thanks in advance for your help, this frame off thing has got me to where I can't even think straight anymore. |

You should talk to talk to Keith - his ID on the forum is lolife99. He is a cool dude man, and knows a lot about what you're trying to do with matching up parts.

Re: Clueless in Nashville - Front End Questions
Thanks CC69Rat.
ChumBucket,... Spindles are separated by these years. 63-70 71-72 73-87 (Light Duty and Heavy Duty) This means balljoints and outer tie rod ends. Your theory sounds like a good one. The only issue is if they are actually 73-87 LD spindles with the 1" wide rotors. Do you know the rotor width? Do you have any pics of the spindles and a-arms that you could post? I would try to order the correct spindle to match what you have. But at the very least you will have to change ball joints and outer tie rods if you guess wrong. If you have the 73-87 LD spindles,... you might have to change calipers and rotors also. Post up some pics if you can.
