1980 3 Ton truck.

My dad has a 1980 chevy 3 ton truck he is hauling off to the scrap yard. It has a good motor in it, a small block. I am unsure what size it is??? Any ideas??? We have never heard it run but, its got fresh oil in it and is complete with a I think a 1 or 2 barrel carb. I can get it for free. Is it worth saving??

Yes save it, if it is a 350 it should be a 4 bolt main. And they are getting harder to find.
Good for a rebuild for a project.

Re: 1980 3 Ton truck.

hell yes especially for free!

I'd get it running, which MAY be fairly easy if its in descent condition?

and use it for hauling etc and make money with that sucker! with em the options would be endless.

or get it running and sell it on craigslist?

Or if you REALLY didnt wanna mess with it much remove the engine sell the engine sell the tranny and other parts and scrap it and make even more money.

save it.

Re: 1980 3 Ton truck.

No tach cluster unfortunately. Im going to roll it on its side and cut the motor and trans out with a sawzall. I have pulled the cab lights and windshield. It has air brakes, but no pump on the motor. Some kinda round apparatus underneath the drivers step though. He had a few more but, they got to the crusher before I could get parts off of them. I have a ton of square body parts.....a ton!!!!!!!! I can't save everyone of them.
