Dually flip kit question
I have a dually flip kit I am installing and it doesn't seem like the flip bracket is fitting correctly. Its flush with the axle, but not touching the axle perch on either side. Whats up with this??? Its a Western chassis product.

Tony,
I remember reading that there should be a slight gap on each end & you put a bead of weld there to keep things in place. I never put the bracket on though to see exactly what the gap was.

The gap is too much to throw a weld on it. Its 3/8" away from touching the bottom of the spring perch. Im going to add some metal to each side to make it more stable. It moves around alot. I checked both flip brackets and the both are very loose on the rear end.

Wow.... 3/8" on each side is a bunch. Is the bracket flush/square w/the end of each side on the factory rear end perch? Check w/Cochino12 & see if he had any issues installing his.

Its flush and square. Even ground the rear end to bare metal in the area just to be sure. I will make it work. I got a kid that helps me who is a wiz with a cuttin torch and a welder. Just way too loose for me.

I know the destructions said it had to be welded to the rear end bracket @ each end but 3/8" gap is BS. Sorry for the issue....

Take a short pc of 3/8 strap steel, & slip it under both ends,weld it to the original pad on the diff,then tack it to the flip pad? crazyL

That will work....you will even have a little adjustment on the pinion angle, before you fire up the welder crazyL

While I agree, that's 1 way around the issue, he shouldn't have to do anything except tack the ends to the perch according to what I've read on the install. That's why I'm curious what others experiences where w/the C30 kits.

I don't own a welder, but I know someone who does! I may weld it. I am having some new ones made anyway that are longer. I work for a company that designs and builds aircraft parts. I have a buddy in the machine shop I hooked up with some sq. body parts for his wrecked swb.
He will make me some. He was talking about milling some from a solid chunk of steel on their 5 axis machine. I'm like ok!!!!! It will probably be made from 3/8" and 3/16" metal though. A board member that works for me p/t is makin a C notch from an old 1 ton frame I have. Im ready to drive this thing!!!

yup... that kind of gap i would definitely weld it. on the C30's there were two axle saddles used by GM... one is a solid block like yours and the other is a stamped piece. That bracket looks like it would fit the stamped saddle....
