68 Time Capsule, I think..

Busy day! I went to a salvage yard and only had 1 hour to get a complete 5.3 engine for the truck I was on my way to buy. I only seen two pictures of the truck but I was shocked when we looked at it for the first time. All original paint, sheet metal, inline 6 with 3 on the tree. Body is super straight with the only dent in the front right fender. The bed only had two small dents inside! Original wood floor bed. The interior is still all stock with the original radio and everything. Just has a seat cover thats not stock. We bought the truck and drove it two hours back to my home. Drove great! The only now stock item is the wheels. The owners wife wanted "cool wheels" and it now has 20 inch rims.. Ill change those out. Ill post more pics tomorrow since I got home late today. Bought it from its second owner and has 83000 original miles. Garaged for the last 8 years but was taken out for drives.

Re: 68 Time Capsule, I think..

A 4/6 drop would greatly improve the wheels, but I agree with you just send them on their way. That truck looks great like it is, find some stock looking wheels and then drive the crap out of it.

A Cream Puff! A very nice old truck. It's a great canvas for a master piece.

Re: 68 Time Capsule, I think..

Very nice! Looks to be mostly complete. I am jealous! I would love to find something like that in the same condition.

You may not beleive this but some time ago I had contemplated on buying the same rims.

Do you have any plans for the old truck?

Keith

Re: 68 Time Capsule, I think..

My original plans where to do a simple 5.3 engine swap with the 4l60e and daily drive it. Now seeing its great untouched condition I am having second thoughts. I really would like the extra V8 power for towing but the inline 6 runs perfect and doesnt leek a drop of oil. Ill just drive it for a while the way it is for now and clean up the 5.3 and get it ready for the swap.

Re: 68 Time Capsule, I think..

I'm confused. Spid says off-white, but entire interior painted blue. Also looks like blue paint under the white paint in the scratch next to the door striker plate in picture in post #9. Educate me...was this regularly done by the factory? All trucks I've seen have same color interior and exterior metal.
