Speaker Wiring Help!
Ive got a few questions about installing an after market stereo/speakers possibly. In my 1984 C10 Stepside, there are two speakers behind the bench seat, idk if theyre stock or aftermarket but they certainly need to be replaced. but the only wire that runs into them is a small black wire. To install new speakers would i need to start all over or is it possible to just find some home speakers, anything that just uses one black wire into the speaker so i can use the wiring and ground thats already been done? Any suggestions ideas help etc is appreciated, im a newbie with wiring, i know i know.
Thanks. |

Re: Speaker Wiring Help!
I would run new wires. If you aren't running anything special, but want to run some good wire, pick up a spool of 16awg from Radio Shack. I have used it for a lot of low power speakers and it works great.

Re: Speaker Wiring Help!
Even the stock speakers used two wires per speaker, its possible your seeing another wire or somebody cobbled in speakers and grounded the negative to the chassis. are there plates in the cab corners with 4x10s? If so i'd take a second look.
