Re: help i need power steering

I had to go to a salvage yard to find this piece. It is a support bracket you will need. Other wise, the pump will flop around badly.

Of what? Cut a thickwall steel spacer to the right length (head to bracket if the manifold were still there) and use the stock stud to bolt the bracket on.

He's saying that the ps bracket that is supposed to bolt to the front exhaust manifold bolt will be floating in space away from the head now that you have headers which are much thinner than manifolds. You need to measure the space between the bracket and the header flange and cut a spacer of some sort. Some folks even use a stack of washers or old lugnuts. Just anything that a 3/8 bolt will pass through that is the right length.

You can see one in jdheff1982 picture he posted.

A guy on here I think "Justins 76" made a spacer out of washers....just stack a bunch up and it works....well at least it worked fine for him

Re: help i need power steering

Ok I was going to cut the existing bracket to set back further cause the headers won't allow to go back I am still running an ac compressor right above it

Nah don't cut it, a spacer is much easier, they even make a corrected bracket for headers for around 20-25 bucks

Re: help i need power steering

Rather than use a million washers, go to the hardware store and get some 7/16 nuts to stack up. The opening is just right for a 3/8 bolt to pass through. Stack up the nuts to get close then use washers to make up the rest of the space. Less to fall on the ground if you ever have to take it apart.
